I will remember the Ukrainian girl in the train. She had a special charm. Up to Kiev I had the personal and cozy compartment in the train when suddenly a rather pretty girl came in. "The parks are green, the sun is bright, and in the evenings you can come to a nice bar, have a seat at the window and have a little glass of red wine. The tourists from different countries come to Kiev to see the city in the huge green park. It was my second travel to Ukraine. The girl spoke English. Of course her English was with a big accent but I could understand her. I asked her where she learned English. She said she finished an expensive school in her native town Kharkov.

Her next question I liked best of all. "Don't you like to look out of the window?" she said quite freely. I moved along the seat closer to the window and stared at the window. The win dow was open and I looked through it making a affectation of learning the sightseeing. On my mind I could see the telegraph-posts passing by.

"Have you noticed," I dared. "That the trees seem to be going while we seem to be standing still?" "That usually happens," she said. I turned from the window and looked at the girl and for some time were sitting without talking. "You have an interesting and beautiful face," I said. I was beginning to fall in love+ She laughed brightly and pleasantly. "It's a pleasure when somebody says you such words". She said. "I'm so tired of people telling me that I have a pretty face!" The train went slowly into a station. There were some shout ing porters and vendors and near the carriage door a male voice that must have belonged to the girl's uncle. "Goodbye," said the girl. She was standing very close to me, so close that the fragrance from her hair was dizzy. I wanted to touch her hair but she went away and just the odor still lingered where she stood some minutes earlier. The train began to gain speed, the steel wheels took up their usual sound, the car riages started to sing their favorite song and to dance shaking the passengers from one side to the other.
